"From Punta Arenas to Santiago with difficulties, 12/01/ - 04/02/11"
Unfortunately we had bad luck and got to Punta Arenas when the city was just in a strike due to the high fuel price. We were stranded at the airport from thursday to saturday until we could "escape" to Puerto Natales. Unfortunately, the strike made it impossible to visit the nationalpark Torres del Paine. Thus we drove to Argentina and visited the glaciar Perito Moreno, El Chaltén and returned to Chile just at Chile Chico We drove around all the lake General Carrera to Coyhaique and Chaitén, where we took a ferry to Puerto Montt. We spent a lot of time in the lake distrikt and enjoyed the mediterranean climate. After 3 weeks we returned to Germany from Santiago.
Despite the difficulties at the beggining, we enjoyed our journey very much, not least thanks to the fantastic service of Ruth Henschel. The contact with the people were wonderful. The landscape was impressioning, the camper was perfect. There is no doubt: we will come back to Chile and then again with Holiday Rent.
