"Brenda´s and Albert´s journey through the Patagonia in december and january 2011"
For Christmas 2010 we treated ourselves to a 3 week vacation in Chile. Initially, it was difficult to decide where we wanted to go in Chile since the country is so large and varied in landscapes. Being Landrover travelers in Europe and Africa, the Atacama desert looked very appealing; as did the wine district - since we are also wine lovers. Patagonia was also high on the list, the mountains, glaciers, lakes and rugged countryside. We opted for Patagonia and rented a camper from Holiday Rent and did not regret one minute.
Even though in most of the photo’s it looks overcast, the weather was very nice and sunny a lot of the time. We spent a lot of time close to nature, at the glaciers and hiking to where the penguins were - so it is no wonder that we look very wet! Even trout fishing and condor spotting. We met many Chilean people along the way, very kind and friendly. A little bit of Spanish helps of course but also led to some hilarious situations.
Two days in Santiago rounded off our trip, also very culturally and historically interesting.
We look back on our trip with very fond memories and are planning to return one day soon to see the other parts of Chile!
