9000 km to the north of Chile and Argentina
From 15 October to 28 November 2018 we made a fantastic trip through Chile and Argentina. During this trip we drove 9000 kilometers. The Patagonia Single Cab, on a Volkswagen Amarok 4x4, we really liked it.
After a friendly welcome and a good explanation of the camper, we spent the first night at the Holiday Rent site. The next morning we left north via Ruta 5. If possible, we went off from Ruta 5 to visit special places. At Chanaral we drove inland to visit the beautiful Salar de Pedernales. We also visit the Valle de Elqui with its numerous green vineyards. Very worthwhile to leave Ruta 5. After all kinds of wanderings we crossed the Jama pass to Argentina at San Pedro de Atacama, at an altitude of 4800 meters. Again, the mountain landscapes were vast, bizarre, unearthly and overwhelming. Especially the colors of the mountains have made a deep impression on us. Mainly via the well-known Ruta 40 we drove back to Santiago via Uspallata and the Libertadores pass.
During the whole trip we only spent a few nights at a campsite. All other nights we parked the camper in the most beautiful spots. We met many friendly, helpful people.
Finally, our big thanks go to the Holiday Rent team. These people guarantee a carefree, successful holiday. It is certainly not the last time we rent a camper at Holiday Rent. Our thoughts are already going to the Carretera Austral.
