6 weeks from Pto. Montt to Arica.
During an almost 6-week tour we traveled from Puerto Montt to Arica with the Patagonia Camper double cabin from Holiday Rent RV. We were glad we had opted for the double cabin, so we could increase the sparse storage space a lot. Since we could hardly refill the tank with clean water in many places, we decided not to use the shower facility and converted the "Baño" into a storage room. So now and then a simplified body care had to be enough for us.
Guided by GoogleMaps and the very good road maps from Copec, we covered a good 7200km. Reliable, from time to time a little "snorting", our "home" also mastered the heights of over 4500 meters above sea level. When driving briskly or in all-wheel drive, the camper burned pretty much exactly the consumption of 13 l specified in the brochure. But with the diesel prices around the 90 centimes / l is still justifiable.
We spent our holidays casually and with relish on campsites or wildly in the great outdoors, even if the cleanliness and hygiene ideas of the Chileans lag behind a European standard. But the varied country has compensated us by far with beautiful natural beauty, some of which is foreign to us but interesting.
